Emotions are Overrated

Emotions evolved for one specific purpose: o help us live a little bit better. They're feedback mechanisms telling us that something is either likely right or likely wrong for us-- nothing more, nothing less. Much as the pain of touching a hot stove teaches you not to touch it again.

Emotions are part of the equation of our lives, but not the entire equation. Just because something feels good doesn't mean it is good. Just because something feels bad doesn't mean it is bad. This is why your problems are recursive and unavoidable. The house you buy is the house you repair. The dream job you take s the job you stress over. Everything comes with a sacrifice--whatever makes us feel good will also inevitably make us feel bad. What we gain is also what we lose. What creates our positive experiences will define our negative experiences.

This is a difficult pill to swallow. We like the idea that there's some form of ultimate happiness that can be attained. We like the idea that we can alleviate all of our suffering permanently. We like the idea that we can feel fulfilled and satisfied with our lives forever.

But we cannot.

What's on the other side of Fear?

“Everything you’ve ever wanted is sitting on the other side of fear.” Consider that for a moment: to get what you want, you just need to get past your fear.  Fear is a powerful emotion.  It often masquerades as a cloak of protection, keeping us from doing things that may cause us harm.  Sooner or later, that caution and those fears that prevent you from getting hurt or put on the spot, stagnate you.  I've heard most people saying that I'm not good enough , I'm not ready for this.  Somewhere along the way, out of fear of ridicule or rejection, you started to tell yourself that it was okay not to go after what you wanted. You fill your head with negative stories that prevent you from stretching your wings. Until you take responsibility for your own growth journey, everything will remain the same. To make positive change, you have to be willing to be vulnerable. A healthy curiosity is often the best educator, as it leads to new opportunit...

What We think, We become!!

Close your eyes and visualize yourself become the person that you always wanted to be. Now, Identify the feeling and give your mind a vision of where it wanted to go. It will help you to drive you to stay on creating it to happen. Visualize yourself become the person that you want to be, is a powerful tool to stay focus. When you focus on something, you actually give your mind a command. So your mind is looking for ways to extract that command that you gave it. Why? Because your brain doesn’t know the difference, so it will drive you to focus on creating it to happen. So understand that every time you tell yourself that things will go wrong, it’s actually going to happen. Your mind will look for the things that you tend to look for. If you think negative, your mind will look for negative.  There are three practices that prime the brain for a change. They are visualization, affirmations and intentions. Positive change starts with a positive vision of the life you want, positive affi...

Loosen Up a Little......!

What happens when you ask a group of kids to draw?   They start drawing. And if you ask them to dance? They just dance. However, if you ask the same question to an adult, they usually reply, “I don’t know.” Instead of jumping into action, they connect with their logical brain.   When we fear being laughed at, we stop... Doing what we want Having fun Learning That’s the problem with taking ourselves too seriously: We choose to look good over learning new things. Fear makes our lives boring and repetitive.  Life gives us plenty of reminders that we don’t matter..... It’s easy to get caught up in our own narrative. That we’re a big deal. That we bring so much value to whatever or whoever. Luckily, life brings us all back down. In truth, we’re all replaceable. Even Oprah. Our friends take us for granted. But not all the time. Sometimes, we just think we’re hot shit. For no reason. It’s the adult version of running around the house with a cape made from your bed sheets. Look, ...
